On Wednesday, Nasscom Foundation and the ONDC Network started a program to support women-led businesses in Karnataka.

As part of the program, 200 businesses joined the ONDC Network, giving them access to online marketplaces and help to start new business activities.

The initiative has helped sellers in areas like handicrafts, handloom, and manufacturing, increasing their income and improving their business growth over time.

It has been implemented across 22 districts, covering both rural and urban areas including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi, Channapatna, Belagavi, and Udipi.

Jyoti Sharma, CEO, Nasscom Foundation, said, “Our collaboration with ONDC Network has helped bridge the digital divide by building capacities and empowering 200 women entrepreneurs to enter and thrive in online marketplaces seamlessly. By harnessing technology and skill development, we have provided them with a level playing field and access to sustainable market linkages to ultimately drive economic growth.”

Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO and COO at ONDC, said, “Through this collaboration with Nasscom Foundation, ONDC Network is providing the digital infrastructure that enables enterprises to access wider markets and strengthen their businesses, to a more inclusive digital landscape for India.”

The initiative focuses on solving major challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, such as limited access to markets, low digital and financial knowledge, and little experience with e-commerce.

To help overcome these challenges, participants were given on-ground support in areas like training, creating product listings, and GST registration.

The program also focused on building skills, connecting women with the right stakeholders, and creating regular systems for problem-solving and quality checks.

By offering the right tools, training, and resources, the initiative helps women entrepreneurs grow their businesses, reach more customers, and achieve long-term success. The program received technical support from Sattva Consulting.
