Nomupay Gets $40M from SoftBank to Grow Payments in Asia

Nomupay, a company based in Ireland, has received a $40 million investment from SoftBank. The money will help the company grow and expand its payment services across Asia.

Nomupay said on Tuesday that SB Payment Service Corp. (SBPS), a part of SoftBank Group, has made a strategic investment in the company.

This is the biggest investment Nomupay has received so far and marks the start of a long-term partnership aimed at improving payment access in Asia and other regions.

Nomupay said this partnership is about more than just money—it shows a strong belief in the company’s goals and what it can do.

The company also said the partnership shows a shared goal of making it easier for their customers to grow and expand globally.

Meanwhile, SBPS, a payment company from Japan, has been looking for the right partner to help its merchants grow internationally—without giving up control of their customer relationships or dealing with complicated, disconnected systems.

The firm found Nomupay after two years of searching.

With SBPS’s all-in-one payment platform, its merchants can now grow their businesses globally without the hassle of handling many different providers, contracts, tech setups or reporting tools.

Its single system and easy-to-use API make global payments simpler and more efficient, solving a process that used to be complicated and expensive.

For Nomupay, this partnership is a great chance to strengthen its position in Japan, which is an important but usually hard market to enter.

SBPS also offers strong connections within Japan, built-in payment features, and access to carrier billing through one of Japan’s biggest telecom companies.

Together, they are making it easier than ever to buy and sell goods and services back and forth between Japan, other parts of Asia, and the rest of the world.

According to the statement, both Nomupay and SBPS are very focused on fixing the problems that come with making payments across different countries.

This partnership shows that both companies believe merchants need more than just better payment processing. They need a complete platform that takes care of payments, money management, and payouts while also offering easy local checkout options and following all the rules automatically.

“This partnership allows us to double down on our mission to simplify access to complex, high-growth markets and to power commerce both into and out of Asia through a single, scalable infrastructure,” said Peter Burridge, Chief Executive Officer of Nomupay.

Meanwhile, Jun Shimba, President and Chief Executive Officer of SBPS, shared that Nomupay’s reach and flexibility make them an ideal partner.

“Together, we’re building a more connected, cashless future across the region,” he added
