Oman-Based Omantel has Partnered with InnoTech Oman

In order to create artificial reefs using 3D concrete printing technology—which has several advantages and is crucial to marine ecosystems—Omantel and Innotech have inked a collaboration agreement.

By working together, a substrate for marine life to settle on and grow will be created.

Reef structures can be designed and customized with the use of 3D printing technology. These structures can include intricate details like caverns, ledges, and fissures that serve as feeding grounds and shelter for fish populations. Eight 3D concrete modules will be printed as part of the partnership, and they will be placed in an undisclosed site in Muscat.

Together with encouraging sustainable fishing methods and raising fishery yields, the new project also seeks to improve local economies and marine biodiversity.

Othman Al Mandhari, the founder and CEO of Innotech, and Eng. Aladdin Bait Fadhil, the CCO of Omantel, inked the agreement at the company’s headquarters.

Eng. Aladdin Bait Fadhil commented: “The depleting fish populations in the sea are a matter of concern all over the world. At Omantel, we are acutely aware of this situation and have therefore decided to partner with Innotech to support this initiative to boost fish yield by creating artificial reefs. Innotech’s 3D concrete printing solution offers unprecedented benefits and we are confident that mutual concerted efforts from both sides will help us achieve the goals we have set. Supporting environmental initiatives has always been a main driver to our CSR strategy”

Omantel has discovered that Innotech is the perfect ally for this endeavor. Employing recent graduates, InnoTech is a 100% Omani startup that specializes in cutting-edge technologies.

Every employee is an Omani engineer who graduated from some of the country’s largest institutions and universities. The firm has created and received a patent for its own 3D printer, which is the first 3D concrete printer produced domestically.

Artificial reefs are a useful instrument for conservation and reef restoration projects. Researchers can assess the total ecological impact by examining different types of structured communities and growth patterns in the ocean.

When artificial reefs are implemented successfully with 3D concrete printing technology, local populations, especially those in the tourism industry, benefit economically from the meticulous design, material composition, and continuous controls involved.

Using standard concrete molds, 3D concrete printing, also known as 3D concrete construction printing, is a type of additive manufacturing that allows the fabrication of buildings or building components in entirely new forms.
