OpenAI is working on a partnership with Shinsegae Group to use AI to make shopping more personalized and easier for customers.
OpenAI Korea said on the 6th that it signed an agreement (MOU) with Shinsegae Group in Seoul to work together on AI-based shopping services. They will focus on using AI in commerce, building an AI shopping assistant, and improving businesses with AI.

The project will begin with E-MART and then slowly expand to other companies under Shinsegae Group.
They also plan to develop an AI shopping assistant that understands each user’s preferences and needs to give a more personalized shopping experience.
Kim Kyung-hoon, head of OpenAI Korea, said, “We are pleased to explore, together with Shinsegae Group, a variety of possibilities for AI to make customers’ everyday shopping experiences easier and more useful,” adding, “We will continue technical support and collaboration so Shinsegae Group can implement new AI-based customer experiences.”
Lim Young-rok, head of corporate strategy at Shinsegae Group (president), said, “AI commerce will redefine the standards of the future retail market beyond the divide between online and offline distribution,” adding, “We will strengthen customer-tailored, hyper-personalized AI commerce and build an AI-centered structure across the group.”
