Peripheral Labs Secures $3.6M Seed Round to Advance AI Sports Replays

Peripheral Labs, a Toronto-based developer of an AI-driven neural rendering platform for immersive sports replays, has raised $3.6 million in seed funding.

The round was led by Khosla Ventures with participation from Daybreak Capital, Entrepreneurs First, Transpose Platform, and several angel investors.

The funding will be used to expand the engineering team and scale hardware and platform development efforts.

Co-founded by Kelvin Cui (CEO) and Mustafa Khan, Peripheral Labs is developing technology that transforms standard broadcast camera feeds into photorealistic 3D volumetric video, using sensors and AI techniques inspired by self-driving cars.

The platform enables near real-time conversion of broadcast footage into a navigable 3D model, allowing viewers to “fly” virtual cameras, freeze action to rotate around players, or lock on to follow specific athletes.

Peripheral Labs is currently in discussions with North American sports teams and leagues to deploy the system, offering enhanced performance analytics and multi-angle replay experiences for both fans and coaches.
