Jakarta-based tech-enabled research platform Populix has announced the successful initial close of its Series B funding round, securing US$4.3 million to drive the next phase of its AI-powered innovation.
The funding round was led by MSW V Asia Fund X, with continued support from existing investors Intudo Ventures, Altos Ventures, and Acrew Capital.
Accelerating AI in Research
With this new capital, Populix aims to:
- Further develop and train AI models to automate research workflows and deliver insights more quickly and accurately.
- Invest in machine learning systems to create synthetic respondents — virtual personas designed to mimic human behavior and expedite data collection processes.
- Strengthen its position as a technology-driven research platform supporting both businesses and policymakers in adopting AI-based research methodologies.
Expanding Regional Reach
Co-founder and CEO Dr. Timothy Astandu shared that the funding reinforces Populix’s commitment to innovation and expansion, stating:
“This funding encourages us to continue reinforcing our business fundamentals by developing services and leveraging technology to innovate in the future. In addition, Populix also aspires to expand its market to Southeast Asia based on strong demand from current clients.”
From Indonesia to Southeast Asia
Since its Series A round in 2022, Populix has expanded its reach and offerings. In 2023, it launched Policy & Society Research, enabling organizations and governments to assess public sentiment, policy effectiveness, and socioeconomic trends.
The company’s flagship innovation, NeXa — an AI-driven research assistant — streamlines the entire research process, from questionnaire creation to response analysis and final insights.
Populix currently connects companies, institutions, and individuals to diverse, high-quality respondent pools across Indonesia, offering both full-service and self-service research tools.
Rapid Growth and Strong Client Retention
Over the past year, Populix has reported:
- 2X growth in total research projects
- 65% of projects from returning clients
- Expansion into new verticals such as telecommunications and government sectors
As Populix continues to scale across Southeast Asia, it remains committed to making research more intelligent, accessible, and impactful through the integration of AI.
Jeffrey Seah, founder and General Partner of MSW Ventures, added: “By closing the decision lag between insight and action, Populix fuses the depth of traditional research with the immediacy of synthetic data and agentic AI—delivering strategic advantages with unprecedented speed, accuracy, and actionability. This enables the company to scale its offering across the region and drive the next wave of innovation in the market research sector.”
