Zigelboim, the company’s creator, stated that the inspiration for Pylon Medical came from an unmet need in the medical community for safer and more efficient access to the carotid artery for treatments like stenting.

Pylon Medical has created a simplified carotid access method that addresses carotid blockages and strokes and includes a safe closing mechanism.
The current round’s money will be utilised for R&D to finalise the product design, undertake preclinical and clinical trials, and attain regulatory approval. Funds will also be granted for employing key staff, marketing to raise product awareness and demand, and infrastructure and office space to support firm operations and growth.

The company projects that the global market for carotid stenting will expand as the prevalence of cardiovascular disorders rises, with an anticipated $1.6 billion going towards carotid artery intervention devices. The business joined the MEDX Xelerator programme in January 2023 and has since raised $1.2 million, with the most recent funding of $300,000 coming in July 2024.
