Israeli startup Recapp, which runs an AI-powered sports app that delivers personalized short game highlights, has raised $11 million in a new funding round.
The investors in this round include MizMaa, ADvantage, Liquid2 Ventures (founded by former NFL star Joe Montana), iAngels, Concorde Capital, along with private investors such as Matan Adelson and Boaz Dinte of Qumra Capital.
Recapp will use the funding to expand the app and develop new features through 2026, grow its team, and hire more talent at its Tel Aviv R&D center.
The app launched in September and already has tens of thousands of active users in the US. It offers personalized highlights for sports like basketball, American football, baseball, hockey, soccer, and college sports.
Highlights are shown in a Stories-style format, customized based on users’ favorite teams and leagues, along with live stats, scores, and selected social media updates. Future updates will add personalization for favorite players and fantasy teams, and expand coverage to more leagues.
Recapp was founded in 2024 by Guy Nizan, the CEO and a serial entrepreneur, along with Ron Maayan, the Chief Product and Technology Officer, and Blake Stuchin, who serves as President and Chief Business Officer.
“After the sale, I managed Rapid7’s activity in Israel and had no desire to start another cyber company. I didn’t know what I wanted to do next. I’ve been a sports fan since childhood, especially of American sports, and I was looking for an app that would gather all sports results for me in one place,” Nizan. “We developed an app aimed at the American audience. Each user chooses the teams and leagues they want to follow and receives a personalized experience with game summaries for each one.
“We already have tens of thousands of users who see summaries and stories from the sports world that are relevant to them. The app combines coverage of major sporting events with tailored game recaps. It’s free for users, with a mix of advertisements, and the future model will expand advertising, introduce a subscription tier, and integrate ticketing services. We currently cover nine of the ten most popular sports in the United States. I returned to Israel, and the company operates from here. I have an American partner who was responsible for broadcasting rights at the NFL, and our content, marketing, and design teams are all based in Israel.”
Guy Nizan previously founded and led the cybersecurity company IntSights, which was sold to Rapid7 for $400 million in 2021. Ron Maayan has over 25 years of experience in digital video products and most recently served as SVP and CEO of Vonage Israel. Blake Stuchin earlier worked at the NFL as Vice President and Head of Digital Business Development, managing partnerships with major platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Meta, X, and Reddit.
Recapp currently has a team of around 20 employees, working across the United States and Israel.
