Reliance Retail Buys Kelvinator to Grow Its Home Appliances Business

Reliance Retail, led by Isha Ambani, has bought Kelvinator, a popular brand known for refrigerators and washing machines. This helps Reliance grow in the home appliances market.

The company did not share how much they paid for the deal.

Reliance plans to use its large retail network together with Kelvinator’s reputation for good quality and new ideas.

Kelvinator began in the early 1900s and became very popular in India during the 1970s and 1980s with its famous slogan, “The Coolest One.”

The brand is remembered fondly and is known for making reliable, high-quality, and affordable home appliances.

“Our mission has always been to serve the diverse needs of every Indian by making technology accessible, meaningful and future-ready,” said Isha M Ambani, Executive Director, Reliance Retail Ventures Limited.

“The acquisition of Kelvinator marks a pivotal moment, enabling us to significantly broaden our offering of trusted global innovations to Indian consumers. This is powerfully supported by our unmatched scale, comprehensive service capabilities, and market-leading distribution network,” she said.

Reliance Retail plans to use Kelvinator’s strong brand and experience to offer more products like refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and kitchen appliances.

The company believes this will help them grow faster, connect better with customers, and take advantage of the big opportunities in India’s growing market for home appliances.
