Robotics company LimX Dynamics raises $200 million Series B round

Chinese robotics company LimX Dynamics, which makes humanoid robots, has raised around $200 million in a Series B funding round.

The funding comes from a mix of institutional investors and strategic partners, showing that money is still flowing into the field of humanoid robotics.

Some of the investors in this round include Stone Venture, JD, Oriental Fortune Capital, CoStone Capital, Shangqi Capital (backed by SAIC Motor), NIO Capital, Future Capital, and several existing shareholders who increased their stakes.

LimX Dynamics says it will use the funding to focus on three main areas: building and designing humanoid robots, improving how robots move with advanced motion-control models, and developing a special operating system that helps robots work safely in the real world.

The company believes that by working on all these areas together, it can make robots more reliable and cheaper and easier to use outside of controlled or lab environments.

Recently, LimX introduced two new products to test their robots in real-world situations.

The first product, TRON 2, is a modular robot platform. It can be reconfigured into different shapes so developers and businesses can use the same robot for multiple tasks without building new hardware each time.

LimX says TRON 2 is meant to be a standard base for testing and deploying robots as new applications and tasks come up.

The second product, COSA, is LimX’s own operating system. It helps the robot with seeing, planning, and controlling its whole body, so it can do tasks more flexibly in changing environments, closing the gap between thinking and action in robots.
