RTA and TruKKer launch ‘Logisty’ Platform

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in collaboration with TruKKer, the region’s leading digital land freight platform, has launched the Logistics platform in partnership with the private sector to provide commercial transport services to customers and businesses, manage the fleet of commercial logistics vehicles, and provide on-demand booking and tracking services.

The launch of the platform will help transform the logistics sector, enhance Dubai’s position as a leading logistics destination in the region, redefine the process of transporting goods in Dubai, connect customers with commercial transport service providers, and improve user experience by providing efficient, easy, and reliable services.

HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, said: “The launch of the Logistics platform is a realization of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance the global competitiveness of Dubai as a leading hub for finance, business and economy. It also supports the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to consolidate Dubai’s position as one of the top three economic cities in the world. It also comes in line with the Dubai Land Transport and Logistics Strategy 2030, the Roadmap and associated projects, which aim to double the direct contribution of the land transport and logistics sector to the emirate’s economy to AED 16.8 billion, increase the adoption of technology in the sector’s infrastructure by 75%, and improve operational efficiency by 10%.”

Enhance operational efficiency

Al Tayer stressed that the launch of the “Logistics” platform demonstrates the Authority’s commitment to providing innovative and high-quality solutions that place the needs of the population at the heart of its operations, as well as enhancing partnership with the private sector, through cooperation with TruKKer, to benefit from the advanced technology provided by the company in the field of logistics services to provide technical solutions for companies and customers characterised by transparency, security and efficiency. He pointed out that the platform contributes to enhancing the operational efficiency of the logistics sector, by adopting technology in the sector’s operations, activities and services, as the number of commercial transport companies in Dubai is estimated at more than 10,000 companies, recording a compound annual growth of 34% over the past five years.

Advanced technical features

The platform includes advanced technical features and a calculator: (CBM), supported by artificial intelligence, and allows customers to estimate the size of the shipment to be transported, by uploading photos or videos, and will provide advanced solutions for transporting goods and transportation services, in line with the latest innovations in this field.

Growth indicators

The commercial transport activities sector is witnessing continuous economic growth, especially with the acceleration of e-commerce growth in the past two years, as Dubai is a major logistics hub for shipping and distribution in the region. The total number of registered commercial vehicles reached 351,000 vehicles, and the growth contributed to providing more than 242,000 job opportunities. The transport and storage sector witnessed remarkable growth in 2023, achieving an added value of AED 31.4 billion, representing 42.8% of the Emirate of Dubai’s gross domestic product, and the sector recorded the highest growth rate in the second quarter of this year, reaching 7.8%.

17 projects

It is worth noting that the Commercial Transport and Land Logistics Strategy has identified 17 projects that will contribute to supporting the growth of the sector and companies, increasing its competitiveness through electronic markets and platforms, using data and technology, supporting the growth of companies with high potential, cooperating with the commercial transport sector to operate modern vehicles with better performance, and encouraging the sector to adopt innovative methods and future technologies.

The platform will officially launch its services to customers starting in December 2024, providing advanced solutions for transporting goods, in line with the latest innovations in this field.

The platform aims to improve user service by providing efficient, easy and reliable services, thus enhancing Dubai’s position as a leading logistics destination in the region.
