Salary Hero Secures $7.6 Mn in Series A Funding to Expand into Malaysia
Oct 14, 2026 | By Nguyen Minh

Salary Hero, a Bangkok-based financial health platform, has raised $7.6 million in Series A equity funding to expand its operations in Malaysia and improve access to financial services for workers.
The funding round was led by Singapore-based Cento Ventures, with participation from Malaysia-based Kairous Capital and M Venture Partners.
Alongside the equity funding, Salary Hero has expanded its credit facility with regional lenders to $10 million. This facility will support its earned wage access (EWA) services, allowing employees to withdraw a portion of their already-earned wages before their scheduled payday.
How Salary Hero Helps Employees Access Their Salaries
Salary Hero provides financial well-being services designed to help employees manage expenses between paydays. Its platform allows workers to access wages they have already earned instead of relying on high-cost informal lenders to cover urgent expenses.
According to the company, informal lenders in the region can charge interest or fees equivalent to as much as 30% per month. Salary Hero aims to provide an alternative through employer-integrated wage access services.
How Salary Hero Plans to Use the Funding
The new funding will support Salary Hero's expansion in Malaysia and the development of technology for corporate HR teams.
The company plans to use its employer integrations and workforce data capabilities to help businesses understand employee retention challenges. Its tools are designed to analyse anonymised workforce data and identify patterns in employee turnover across locations, teams, shifts and tenure groups.
The expanded $10 million credit facility will provide additional capital to support earned wage access transactions. Since the model requires funds to be made available to employees before payroll settlement, access to financing is an important part of the company's operations.
Salary Hero's Expansion into Malaysia
Malaysia is Salary Hero's next growth market as it seeks to address financial challenges faced by workers who may struggle to cover unexpected expenses.
The company's expansion comes amid concerns about household financial resilience and the use of unlicensed moneylenders, locally known as Ah Longs.
Salary Hero plans to build its Malaysian presence through corporate partnerships, using existing relationships with regional businesses to support market entry. It aims to reach 50 corporate partners in Malaysia by the end of 2027.
