Sedifly, an education technology (EdTech) startup from Singapore, announced that it has raised a six-figure pre-seed funding round, which was three times more than expected. The round was supported by several angel investors, including successful entrepreneurs and top executives from global companies.
The company, which aims to make high-quality college education accessible to everyone, also received a grant from Enterprise Singapore — a government agency — with support from Pollinate, an incubator run by Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, and the Institute of Technical Education.
To help guide its growth, Sedifly has added two new board members: Daniel Ding, a real estate expert with 25 years of experience and over $4 billion in investments, and Jessie Lim, a finance leader with more than 30 years of experience and currently the Regional CFO of a European-listed company managing $2 billion in revenue and 140,000 employees.
With their expertise in business growth and strategy, they will support Sedifly as it moves into its next stage. The company plans to use the new funding to improve its product, strengthen AI-based personalization, and expand into new markets.
“Getting into college is increasingly competitive; Ivy League acceptance rates have dwindled by more than five times over the past three decades,” said Joash Lee, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sedifly.
“We’ve seen many educational consulting firms step in to guide students, but the prices they charge are pure ludicrous — running into the millions,
“As the world’s first value-driven educational consulting firm, we aim to make things more accessible,” he added.
Founded in Singapore, Sedifly helps students around the world get into their dream universities in the United States and the United Kingdom. It offers a complete support system that includes academic guidance, extracurricular activities, and help with essays and interviews.
Since its launch earlier this year, Sedifly has grown rapidly. It has already enrolled its first group of students, with hundreds more on the waiting list — performing four times better than the industry average.
With a skilled team of over 20 members, the company is building partnerships with several institutions and became profitable within just one month of launching, thanks to its strong community-based growth approach.
Although Sedifly is a new company, its team includes experienced education consultants who have helped students gain admission to top universities like Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, and Cambridge.
“I’ve had a full circle journey with educational consulting, first as a student, then employee, and now as a founder,
“Interacting with thousands of students made me realize the problems in the space and want to build something that not only does ‘well,’ but ‘good’ too, and Sedifly’s mission is to make educational consulting more affordable and transparent,” added Lee.
