SG Enviro (SGE), a company from Singapore that works on cleaning industrial wastewater, said on Monday that it has raised S$8 million (about $6.22 million) in funding. The investment was led by Emerald Technology Ventures, a global venture capital firm that supports climate-friendly technologies.
This significant funding will accelerate SGE’s expansion across Southeast Asia (SEA) and support the development and integration of proprietary technologies in its comprehensive solution portfolio, SGE said in a statement.
The new investment will help SG Enviro (SGE) grow its business into Malaysia, Indonesia, and other important Southeast Asian countries, where the need for industrial wastewater treatment is rising quickly.
This growth fits well with the region’s focus on protecting the environment and following stricter rules for industries.
SG Enviro was started in 2018 by environmental engineer Guah Eng Hock. Since then, the company has become known for creating and managing wastewater treatment systems designed to meet the specific needs of Southeast Asia’s climate and regulations.
This partnership with Emerald is not just about money—it also gives SGE access to a global network of advanced water technology companies that Emerald supports.
SG Enviro plans to use new and smart technologies in its work, including advanced filtration systems, real-time monitoring tools, AI-based systems to improve performance, and modern chemical treatments.
“This investment marks a significant milestone for us. It not only validates our belief that industrial water treatment in Asia requires region-specific, practical engineering – it also gives us Emerald’s support with curated global access to leading-edge technologies to help us be more efficient in our operations and better serve our customers.
“Emerald’s network positions us to scale up and create transformational impact across SEA’s industrial landscape,” said Guah Eng Hock, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SGE.
Dr. Helge Daebel, Head of Emerald’s Water Practice and newly appointed member of SGE’s Board, commented that the firm looks forward to connecting its global portfolio of water tech entrepreneurs with SGE’s strong execution and operation capabilities.
“Together, we can bring world-class solutions to SEA’s industries – where the need for water resilience has never been more urgent,” he added.
Looking ahead, SG Enviro (SGE) aims to become Southeast Asia’s leading provider of complete water treatment solutions.
The company plans to offer customers full-service support—from the first site check and design, to setup, day-to-day operations, and ongoing improvements. Clients will also benefit from access to the latest global water treatment technologies, combined with SGE’s strong understanding of local needs and regulations.
SGE’s solutions will be designed to grow along with its customers’ businesses and support their shift toward sustainable, circular water use practices.
With this investment, SGE is well-positioned to lead the future of industrial water treatment in Southeast Asia by blending global innovations with regional expertise to deliver unmatched value, the company said.
