The Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) has launched the 2025 Selangor Twin Accelerator Program.
This program has two tracks and is designed to help Malaysia’s top startups and small businesses grow, especially in deep tech and consumer-related industries.
The company stated on Monday that the twin accelerator comprises the Selangor Deep Tech Xccelerator Program (Deep-X) and the Selangor Retail Tech Xccelerator Program (Retail-X), both developed to help high-potential ventures future-proof their growth and expand into global markets.
It added that this year’s program is further strengthened through partnerships with leading organizations, including Cradle, TikTok Shop, Xendit, BytePlus, AEON, DHL, and Shopline — showcasing strong public-private alignment with Selangor’s digital economy goals.
“With Deep-X and Retail-X, we are not only accelerating companies but building a fully integrated ecosystem that supports founders at every stage,” said Yong Kai Ping, Chief Executive Officer of Sidec.
He added that the program is designed to produce global-ready entrepreneurs with the right tools, networks, and mindset.
The Deep-X program is for startups using artificial intelligence (AI) in areas like farming (agritech), biotech, health tech, robotics, semiconductors, green technology, and net-zero innovation.
It runs for 12 weeks and offers mentorship, access to markets, opportunities to meet investors, and program benefits valued at over $64,000.
The best Deep-X startups will have the opportunity to travel to Silicon Valley with Plug and Play. There, they can pitch to global investors, meet top accelerators, and explore business partnerships.
Applications for Deep-X are open until July 20, 2025. Startups will also have the opportunity to pitch and showcase their ideas at the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) 2025.
Running alongside Deep-X, the Retail-X program supports business-to-consumer (B2C) small businesses in areas such as fashion, food, home living, beauty, and wellness.
Retail-X focuses on smart marketing with AI, better inventory systems, and growing through both online and offline channels.
The program ends with a demo day, where the top SMEs will pitch their ideas to investors.
Winners of the Retail-X program can get $10,600 in cash and rewards, more brand exposure, and a fully sponsored trip to ByteDance. There, they’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how TikTok Shop is driving new ideas in online shopping.
Applications for Retail-X are open until July 13, 2025.
A strong network of investors, tech companies, and universities supports the Selangor Twin Accelerator program. These partners help guide startups from early ideas to business growth.
Some of the confirmed venture capital partners include Artem Ventures, Gobi Partners, Gen AI Fund, 500 Global, Venture Rock, Ignite, Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad, and First Move Fund.
Equity crowdfunding platforms helping the program include pitchIN, Ata Plus, and MyStartr. Tech partners, including Google Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, and ByteDance’s BytePlus, will provide cloud services, digital tools, and platform support.
The program will also work closely with universities to offer research support, technical testing, and help in developing skilled talent.
Sidec’s wider network will also help startups build business connections, find investors, and reach out to regional and international markets.
This twin accelerator launch also marks Sidec’s 10th anniversary.
The agency said it has supported over 320 startups, facilitated MYR 203 million ($47.89 million) in collective fundraising, and provided regional exposure to founders through international missions.
Looking ahead, Sidec said that the twin accelerator is a cornerstone of its roadmap to nurture 500 startups by 2030, in line with Selangor and Malaysia’s broader digital economy transformation agenda.
