A wholly owned subsidiary of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), NSDC International Limited, struck an agreement with Sompo Care Inc. to train Indian nursing care workers and help them integrate into Japan.
India, with a population of more than 1.4 billion, has enormous growth and international opportunity possibilities. Under the auspices of the Indian government’s “Skill India Mission,” NSDC International is actively cultivating top-notch human resources.
NSDC International seeks to assure a better future for the Indian worker by promoting industrial development and providing chances for employment overseas.
Japan’s elderly population and dropping birth rate are creating an increasing need for caregivers. Sompo Care and NSDC International have decided to work together to address these societal issues by providing training programs and encouraging the hiring of qualified Indian workers in Japan’s nursing care industry.

The goal of this collaboration is to close the gap and improve the standard of care provided in Japan. By solving the labor shortages in Japan and generating job opportunities for qualified Indian professionals, this partnership seeks to benefit both parties.

A trial project will begin in August 2024 and extend through 2025 under this agreement. Indian nursing care staff will receive nine months of rigorous training in India before being accepted as skilled workers at Sompo Care facilities in Japan.

Along with NSDC International’s Japanese language classes, Sompo Care will create distinctive training programs using its significant knowledge and experience in Japan. These classes will teach Japanese nursing style, practical care terminology, and cross-cultural communication.
India-based training will include online modules, e-learning, and practical care skills sessions. The goal is to train motivated and skilled Indian nurses for prompt deployment. After they start working at Sompo Care, the company will help their professional development. Sompo Care expects Japanese nursing care workers to benefit the Indian nursing care market.

The pilot project and training program will be carefully assessed and improved. Based on the outcomes, Sompo Care will consider expanding into India and establishing a full-scale collaborative model.
