Ulook, a spacetech startup, has raised INR 19 crore in a funding round co-led by GrowX Ventures and InfoEdge Ventures.
“We’ve been seeing a surge of shadow fleets in the Indian Ocean. Our satellites can detect their hidden radio markers to pinpoint where they are, how they move, and how long they’ve stayed in a given area,” said, Siddhesh Naik, cofounder & CEO of Ulook.
“Most of the funding is going into building our first prototype in North Bangalore and rigorously testing it on the ground before launch. We’ve seen what happens when testing is overlooked. So a large part is earmarked for validation and verification,” Adheesh Boratkar, cofounder of Ulook, added.
“Ulook’s pursuit of autonomous, intelligent satellite systems reflects not just technical excellence but a commitment to sovereign innovation that can achieve lasting global relevance. What drew us most to this opportunity was the strong founder fit, a team with deep engineering pedigree, global experience, and a clear sense of mission,” said Manish Gupta, partner, growX ventures.
ULook was founded in 2024 by Siddhesh Naik and Adheesh Boratkar. The founders have experience working with low-Earth orbit satellites, UAV swarm systems, and a high-altitude pseudo-satellite prototype.
The startup is creating autonomous satellite swarms that use radio frequency (RF) sensing to detect, track, and study activity on Earth.
This technology is especially useful in places where visibility is poor or where traditional tracking methods don’t work well.
Unlike regular satellites that take pictures, ULook’s satellites collect “RF snapshots” — patterns of radio signals sent by ships, airplanes, or devices on the ground, helping to monitor movement and communication.
