Star Localmart, Part of Sanjay Ghodawat Group Acquires Grocery Platform DusMinute

Star Localmart, the retail arm of Sanjay Ghodawat Group (SGG), has acquired Bengaluru-based gated community retail chain DusMinute for an undisclosed amount.

With this deal, Star Localmart’s network has grown to 170 stores. The company focuses on tier-II to tier-VI towns, aiming to bring modern supermarket experiences to rural shoppers.

Star Localmart has big plans for growth. It aims to expand its presence across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. By 2030, the company wants to run 3,000 stores and generate INR 5,000 crore in revenue within the next five years.

DusMinute, on the other hand, operates 40 stores inside residential complexes. It offers groceries, fruits, vegetables, and household essentials, along with app-based doorstep delivery.

This acquisition supports Star Localmart’s mission to bring modern and affordable retail to every community.

In July 2023, DusMinute raised INR 11.5 crore in a bridge funding round. Inflection Point Ventures led the round and was joined by banker Bandana Kankani. Other supporters of the company include Indian Angel Network and several angel investors.

Founded in 2020, Star Localmart is building a retail network in smaller towns with compact, multi-brand stores. By combining DusMinute’s local-focused model with its own growing presence, the company aims to connect better with customers and strengthen its position in India’s regional retail market.

Star Localmart currently runs over 130 stores in 50 towns across Western Maharashtra and Northern Karnataka. Each store offers more than 3,000 products, including national, regional, and local brands. The company also focuses on creating jobs and providing training in the communities where it operates.
