Sunrate Launches Agentic Card to Enable AI-Driven Business Payments
Nov 3, 2026 | By Carmela Catilo

Hong Kong-based payment platform Sunrate has launched a new virtual commercial card that allows artificial intelligence (AI) agents to make business payments under predefined rules and spending limits. The product aims to help businesses automate payments while maintaining control over transactions and approvals.
Sunrate introduced the card at Hong Kong FinTech Week on November 2, 2026. The card supports multiple currencies and allows authorized AI agents to create virtual cards, initiate payments and track transaction results.
AI Agents Can Manage Business Payments
The new card allows businesses to assign virtual cards to specific transactions or business activities. Companies can set spending limits based on transaction amounts, currencies, merchant categories, locations and card validity periods.
Businesses can also set approval rules for payments. Transactions that do not meet the predefined conditions can be blocked or sent for human review. Each transaction is recorded to help companies monitor spending and maintain payment records.
Mastercard Certifies Sunrate's Agentic Card
Sunrate said its new card has completed Mastercard Agent Pay certification. The certification provides a framework for verifying the identity and authorization of AI agents when they initiate payments through the Mastercard network.
The company also highlighted an example involving an online travel business. In this case, an AI agent could manage payments for marketing campaigns or suppliers while following the company's spending rules.
Expanding Sunrate's AI Payment Services
The new card is part of Sunrate.AI, the company's portfolio of AI-powered services covering payments, foreign exchange, compliance, business onboarding and other financial operations.
In July 2026, Sunrate and Mastercard published a white paper on agentic global payments. The report discussed the importance of authorization, governance, transaction monitoring and security when AI agents handle financial activities.
With the new card, Sunrate aims to expand the use of AI agents in business payments and treasury operations. The company said its payment infrastructure supports more than 190 countries and regions. However, it has not yet announced the card's geographic launch schedule, customer details or commercial pricing.
