SuperGaming, a game development company, has raised $15 million in a new funding round. The round was led by existing investors Skycatcher and Steadview Capital, and values the company at $100 million.
Other investors in the round include a16z Speedrun, Bandai Namco’s 021 Fund, Neowiz, and several Web3-focused investors like Polygon Ventures, Sandeep Nailwal, Decentralised.co, and others. Previous backers like AET Japan and BACE Capital also joined in.
The funding includes both new investment and some earlier funds raised since SuperGaming’s last $5.5 million round in October 2021.
The funding will be used to grow SuperPlatform—SuperGaming’s cloud-based technology built with Google Cloud. Made for developers in emerging markets, it provides tools for analytics, monetization, and community building, helping them run live multiplayer games without having to build a complex backend system.
“We’re building from scratch, not just from a game developer’s perspective of showing that these kinds of games can be made here, but also by providing tools that the community can use, infrastructure for players to participate, and support for streamers to create events that help talent emerge from across the country,” founder Roby John said.
“Our thesis is straightforward: India is the fastest-growing gaming market globally, and from that will emerge the next global giants in gaming. Our first round was about scaling development capabilities, and this round is now about scaling global and unique hyper local publishing approaches,” said Sia Kamalie, founder and fund manager of Skycatcher.
SuperGaming was started in 2017 by Roby John, Navneet Waraich, Sanket Nadhani, Christelle D’cruz, and Sreejit J. The company has created popular mobile games like MaskGun, Silly Royale, and Tower Conquest.
It also built SuperPlatform—a cloud-based tool that helps game developers build, manage, and grow their games. The platform works with popular game engines like Unity and Unreal, making game development easier.
In October last year, SuperGaming launched Indus, a made-in-India battle royale game for Android and iOS. Since its launch, Indus has been downloaded over 6 million times.
The company has more than 120 employees in its Pune and Singapore offices and plans to grow its team, especially in engineering and publishing.
