Swvl Raises $13 Mn to Expand Its Mobility Business in the US

Swvl, a technology company that provides mobility solutions for businesses and governments, has announced a US$13 million private investment.

SUMMARY

  • Swvl has secured $13 million in a private investment round.
  • Coefficient LP invested $10 million, while an existing investor added $3 million.
  • Swvl will use the funding to expand in the US and launch a lending service for transport partners.

The investment is led by Coefficient LP, a US-based investment firm backed by Egypt’s Sawiris family. Coefficient will invest $10 million, while an existing Swvl investor will add another $3 million.

After the deal closes, Coefficient will become Swvl’s largest institutional shareholder. Coefficient Founder and Managing Partner Abdalla Ali will also join Swvl’s Board of Directors.

“We view this investment as powering Swvl’s next chapter, cutting the ribbon on the U.S. market as we have just started our U.S. operations,” said Mostafa Kandil, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Swvl. “We believe that our results demonstrate that Swvl’s enterprise-first model can scale profitably, with revenue growing 68% in the first quarter of 2026 while operating expenses remained at just 23% of revenue. With this investment, we have partners with deep roots in the United States and across our existing markets, and with Abdalla joining our board, we believe that we have the capital, the alignment and the reach to bring Swvl’s platform to its largest market yet.”

“Our family has always backed builders — founders creating businesses that compound for decades aligns with our investment thesis,” said Onsi Sawiris. “Mostafa and his team have built a disciplined technology operator serving enterprises and governments across seven countries, and the business model and anticipated expansion provide a promising foundation for the company's future. We are proud to stand behind a founder building a global company, and we are investing for the long term.”

Swvl plans to use the new funding to expand its business in the United States and launch a lending service for transport operators and partners in its network.

The company will also use the money to strengthen its financial position and support its growing pipeline of long-term contracts with businesses and governments.

Swvl was founded by Mostafa Kandil. The company provides technology-based transportation and mobility services for businesses and governments.

Swvl currently operates in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, the UK and the US.
