Thunes and Ripple Expand Partnership to Power Faster Global Cross-Border Payments

Thunes, a Singapore-based payments company, and Ripple, a U.S. digital asset infrastructure provider for financial institutions, have expanded their partnership to improve cross-border payments worldwide.

Building on their successful collaboration established in 2020, the partnership will improve the customer payout experience, further streamline global money movement, and broaden payout reach across key markets, Thunes said in a statement on Tuesday.

As demand for digital financial services grows, Thunes has added blockchain and digital asset technology to strengthen its Direct Global Network.

By combining Thunes’s global network with Ripple’s blockchain-based payment solutions, the two companies are making cross-border payments faster, easier, and more accessible for banks, businesses, and financial institutions.

With this partnership, Ripple’s enterprise customers can now send and withdraw money more easily in new currencies and countries, improving their global payment reach.

Thunes also provides reliable real-time payouts in local currencies, helping deliver money even in regions with limited banking systems. This ensures smoother “last-mile” delivery of payments.

The partnership expands both companies’ networks, giving businesses and end users fast, secure, and affordable financial services.

Thunes is also using Ripple Payments to improve its SmartX Treasury System. Ripple Payments supports quick, transparent, and reliable cross-border transfers, as well as easy on/off ramps for banks, crypto firms, and fintechs.

So far, Ripple Payments has near-global coverage with over 90 payout markets, representing 90% of daily FX markets, and has already processed more than $70 billion in transactions.

“Members across both the traditional finance space and the digital assets ecosystem connect with Thunes. We are in a prime position to bridge these two worlds and drive the future of digital assets, and our alliance with Ripple underscores this.

“By supporting real-time settlement, and deep local integrations, we are enabling digital asset companies to deliver seamless, compliant, and accessible cross-border payments at scale,” said Chloe Mayenobe, President and Chief Operating Officer at Thunes.

Fiona Murray, Managing Director, Asia Pacific at Ripple, said the firms are committed to reshaping the future of global payments through blockchain technology.

“Our partnership with Thunes accelerates our shared mission to improve the efficiency, speed, and security of global payments. By combining Thunes’ extensive and trusted Direct Global Network with Ripple’s digital asset infrastructure, we are enhancing payment speed, accessibility and compliance across regions.

“This partnership not only facilitates seamless, low-cost transactions but also supports the growing demand for innovative, blockchain-powered financial solutions globally,” she added.
