An Israeli startup, Gain, believes that the growing complexity of supply chains will push companies to move from automation to fully autonomous workforces.
The Tel Aviv–based company revealed itself with $12 million in Seed funding to launch “AI Employees”—software agents that can handle procurement and operational workflows from start to finish.
The funding round was led by The Garage, with support from BlueRed Partners and Bazan Group, Israel’s largest energy company.
Tempo Beer Industries, Israel’s biggest brewer, is also testing Gain’s technology.
Earlier AI tools in procurement helped human staff by automating repetitive tasks like negotiations or contract processing. Gain is taking this a step further with a system that can work independently.
Its “AI Employees”, named Natalie and Bob, are designed to create strategies, negotiate with suppliers, execute contracts, and manage daily transactions on their own.
CEO Michael Gabay, who previously founded the retail automation platform Trigo, said the company’s aim was not to eliminate jobs but to address work that often goes undone. “Basic automation can’t handle the uncertainty and complexity of this field,” he said, adding that the technology had been refined through simulations, feedback, and compliance testing “until they consistently outperform humans, even 20-year veterans.”
Gabay founded the company along with Dor Israeli (CTO), Elon Hait (COO), and Jason Busch (Strategy).
Israeli was previously the Director of Technology at the Israeli Quantum Computing Center at Quantum Machines, and Hait was the CEO of Artemis Defense Solutions.
“After a decade working with leading grocers and CPGs, I saw the big challenges in sourcing and procurement,” Gabay noted. “Our AI Employees don’t replace jobs—they support teams by tackling work that otherwise goes undone and delivering real value. Pilot feedback has been very strong, and we’re excited to expand deployments.”
Trigo is a computer vision company that builds technology for autonomous retail stores and retail analytics. It was founded in 2018 by brothers Michael (CEO) and Daniel (CTO) Gabay.
The company turns regular supermarkets into fully digital, autonomous stores. Ceiling cameras and shelf sensors collect data, which is analyzed to create a “digital twin” of the store.
Trigo has raised more than $200 million so far and its technology is used by some of the world’s top grocery retailers.
Clients include Tesco PLC in the UK, ALDI Nord in the Netherlands, REWE Group in Germany, Netto Marken-Discount in Munich, Shufersal in Israel, and Wakefern Food Corp. in the U.S.
