U Mobile has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies Malaysia to set up its Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP).
The platform aims to speed up the adoption of 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.
The EIP will act as an innovation lab, using Huawei Malaysia’s technical expertise to support solution development, pilot projects, and proof-of-concept tests in areas like smart cities, manufacturing, and logistics.
Both companies also plan to explore AI and Machine Learning-based monetization strategies to improve customer experience and create smarter solutions.
Along with developing solutions, the partnership will also support startups and early-stage ventures by providing funding, incubation resources, and technical support. It will also run tech demos, seminars, exhibitions, roadshows, and digital campaigns to encourage collaboration across different industries.
“U Mobile is pleased to collaborate with Huawei Malaysia as one of our strategic technology partners to establish our EIP, which will enable the development of localised 5G solutions, pilot projects, and proofs of concept, while supporting smart monetisation and ecosystem growth. As Malaysia’s newest 5G network provider, we are committed to accelerating enterprise 5G adoption and digital transformation, enabling businesses to benefit from the latest innovations in next gen ULTRA5G connectivity and AI, supported by Huawei’s expertise. We look forward to forging more collaborations with a variety of partners to ensure the success of EIP,” said Woon Ooi Yuen, Chief Technology Officer of U Mobile.
Zac Chow, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Carrier Business at Huawei Malaysia, said, “Huawei is considered a leader in 5G-Advanced, with GlobalData naming us the sole ‘Leader’ in their 2025′ 5G RAN: Competitive Landscape Assessment’ for the seventh consecutive time, recognising our strengths in 5G-Advanced and AI integration. We are also one of the leaders in Research and Development worldwide and we look forward to leveraging these and our ecosystem of partners to support innovation in Malaysia.”
The signing ceremony was held at the GSMA Digital Nation Summit Kuala Lumpur (ASEAN Edition) at The Westin Kuala Lumpur. The agreement was signed by Woon Ooi Yuen, CTO of U Mobile, and Zac Chow, Deputy CEO of Carrier Business at Huawei Malaysia.
