Umesh Bude Promoted to CTO at Pocket Entertainment

Pocket Entertainment—the company behind Pocket FM, Pocket Toons, and Pocket Novel—has promoted Umesh Bude to the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Umesh was earlier the Senior Vice President of Engineering. Now, as CTO, he will lead the company’s tech direction and work on building the future of AI-driven storytelling across all its platforms.

As CTO, Umesh will be responsible for all the technology at Pocket Entertainment. He will lead new ideas and improvements to help the company’s products grow and reach more people around the world.

His main focus will be on building strong and reliable tech systems, making AI tools better, and using technology to help both content creators and users have a smoother and more enjoyable experience.

“It’s a privilege to take on this role at a time when technology and creativity are deeply intertwined at Pocket Entertainment. I look forward to driving the next wave of innovation where technology and AI are not just enablers but storytellers in their own right,” said Bude in his promotion.

Umesh will continue to work under Prateek Dixit as the company focuses on strengthening its place where entertainment and technology come together.

Earlier this year, Pocket Entertainment launched Pocket Toons—an AI-based webcomics platform that uses artificial intelligence to change how stories are created and shared.

In March 2024, Pocket FM raised $103 million in a Series D funding round. The round was led by Lightspeed, with support from Stepstone Group. So far, the company has raised a total of $196.5 million and was last valued at $750 million.

Pocket FM’s global revenue jumped to ₹1,051.97 crore in FY24, up from ₹176.36 crore in FY23. The Bengaluru-based company also improved its financial health, reducing its losses by 21% to ₹165 crore in FY24.
