Global AI company Univers has launched the world’s first Global Impact AI Lab (IAL) in partnership with AMD, Microsoft, and the National University of Singapore (NUS), with support from Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA).
According to Univers, the lab aims to speed up the development of large-scale AI and Internet of Things (IoT) innovations. It will bring together experts from technology, government, and academia to create powerful edge-to-cloud intelligence solutions faster and more effectively.
The IAL will focus on using AI to improve energy, infrastructure, transport, and manufacturing industries. It will work on three main goals:
Energy efficiency – Using AI to optimize how energy is generated, stored, and used.
Operational efficiency – Making operations smarter by connecting assets, systems, and processes for better performance.
System efficiency – Using AI to connect different sectors like energy and infrastructure, creating smarter, unified ecosystems.
The launch took place at the One Univers event, officiated by Tan Kiat How, Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information highlighting Singapore’s strong support for AI and digital innovation through public–private collaboration.
“The IAL unites leading industry and academic expertise to transform innovation into enterprise advantage,” said Michael Ding, Global Executive Director of Univers.
In today’s business world, simply adopting digital tools is no longer enough. The Global Impact AI Lab (IAL) works closely with its partners to create practical AI and IoT solutions that can solve real business problems and scale successfully in the market.
Through this collaborative approach, companies can make faster decisions, improve operational efficiency, and build a long-term competitive advantage.
The lab’s partnerships with AMD, Microsoft, and NUS show how combining technology, industry, and academic expertise can drive powerful AI innovation across multiple sectors.
“AMD is collaborating with Univers on the IAL to accelerate innovation and showcase the benefits of heterogeneous computing for powering edge AI and enabling enterprises to operate smarter, faster, and more securely at scale,” said Yousef Khalilollahi, corporate vice president and general manager, embedded business group, AMD.
“This collaboration accelerates enterprise digital transformation by bringing intelligent, AI-powered solutions from concept to real-world impact,” said Saj Kumar, regional business leader – manufacturing, Microsoft.
