Upwind raises $250 million Series B round led by Bessemer Venture Partners

Cybersecurity company Upwind has raised $250 million in a Series B funding round, valuing the company at $1.5 billion.

The funding round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners. It also included Picture Capital, which the founders of Island and Transmit Security support.

With this new investment, Upwind’s total funding so far has reached $430 million.

Other investors in the company include Craft Ventures, which has backed companies linked to Elon Musk, such as SpaceX, Tesla, and xAI. Additional investors include TCV, Alta Park Capital, Greylock, Cyberstarts, Leaders Fund, Cerca, Sheva, Penny Jar, a fund backed by NBA star Stephen Curry.

The Israeli company was started in 2022 by CEO Amiram Shachar along with his co-founders Liran Polak, Lavi Ferdman, and Tal Zuri. All of them previously worked together at Spot.io, which was acquired by NetApp for $450 million in 2020.

“Cloud infrastructures have evolved far faster than the security models designed to protect them,” said Shachar. “The next generation of cloud security requires a fundamentally different approach, a runtime-first method, which is the only way to protect the cloud during the AI era. Upwind was founded with the understanding that effective cloud security must derive from runtime-first data analysis within the cloud environment itself. Our approach enables security teams to eliminate noise, focus on real risks, and protect modern cloud applications more accurately and efficiently.”

Upwind has built a cloud security platform, also known as a CNAPP. It brings many cloud security tools—such as workload protection, threat detection, vulnerability management, identity security, and container security—into one single system.

The platform helps companies focus on real security risks instead of getting overwhelmed by unnecessary alerts. This makes cloud security easier to manage, especially in complex cloud environments.
