Upwind Security raises tens of millions in funding from Salesforce Ventures

Upwind Security has raised tens of millions of dollars from Salesforce Ventures. The company is now valued at $1.6 billion.

This is a small increase compared to its earlier valuation of $1.5 billion, which it reached after raising $250 million in its Series B round in January.

The investment was first mentioned last week by CEO Amiram Shachar, but he did not share the financial details at that time. Now, it looks like this funding is an extension of the earlier round.

This shows that investors are still very interested in companies working in artificial intelligence and cloud security.

The company works in the Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) space. This means it offers a single platform to handle different types of cloud security.

It combines several features like checking security settings, protecting workloads, detecting and responding to threats, and managing identities—all in one system.

The company has strengthened its position by working with major cloud providers. Upwind is connected with Amazon Web Services as a CNAPP partner in AWS Security Hub, which helps customers easily use its platform within Amazon’s security system.

It has also partnered with Microsoft to offer security for apps running on Azure, helping protect systems while they are actively in use.

Upwind was founded in 2022 by Amiram Shachar and his former teammates from Spot.io. The company builds a cloud security platform that watches systems in real time instead of just running one-time scans.

Its “runtime-first” approach helps businesses focus on real threats. It shows which security issues can actually be exploited, so teams don’t waste time on alerts that don’t really matter.
