Utopia Therapeutics, a biotech company working on new vaccines for chronic metabolic diseases, has raised $1.5 million in seed funding from Whale Tank.
Utopia Therapeutics said the funding will help speed up the early development of its main treatment, UT009, which targets obesity.
The money will also support the next steps needed to move UT009 toward safety testing, approval processes, and its first human clinical trials.
Utopia Therapeutics was co-founded in 2024 by Uday Saxena and Gopi Kadiyala. The company focuses on creating new types of vaccines for long-term metabolic diseases, especially obesity.

Their goal is to develop the first-of-their-kind vaccines for obesity and related health problems by using innovative scientific methods.
“Obesity is a global epidemic with limited long-term therapeutic options. UT009 represents a paradigm shift by differentiating it from current obesity drugs by addressing the root causes of weight gain. This investment enables us to move swiftly toward clinical translation,” said Uday Saxena and Gopi Kadiyala, co-founders of Utopia Therapeutics.
The Hyderabad-based company says that UT009 is a new type of vaccine made to reduce fat buildup and improve overall metabolic health by targeting certain fat-related substances in the body.
Utopia also plans to grow and launch its UT018-based regenerative product line, which is made from safe, non-drug ingredients and meant for everyday health use.
