VinFast Auto India, the Indian branch of Vietnam’s electric vehicle (EV) company VinFast, has signed a partnership with BatX Energies, an Indian clean-tech company.
They will work together to recycle and reuse high-voltage EV batteries, helping reduce waste and support cleaner energy solutions.
This partnership lays the foundation for an integrated battery value chain in India, supporting the company’s commitment to sustainable electric mobility, VinFast said in a statement on Friday.
Under the agreement, BatX Energies will provide comprehensive high-voltage (HV) battery recycling, material recovery, and repurposing services for VinFast India’s factory and after-sales operations.
This partnership will help recover important materials like lithium, cobalt, and nickel from used EV batteries, so they can be reused in making new batteries.
This process helps the environment by reducing the need for mining, supporting recycling, and cutting down on waste. It also supports India’s growing electric vehicle (EV) industry with local, eco-friendly solutions.
Together, VinFast and BatX aim to create a sustainable system for managing batteries—from use to recycling—while protecting the planet and helping communities.
This is more than just a technical deal—it’s a shared mission to help India move toward a cleaner, greener future.
“This partnership with BatX Energies is a meaningful step toward building a sustainable, circular battery ecosystem in India,” said Pham Sanh Chau, Chief Executive Officer of VinFast Asia.
“At VinFast, sustainability goes beyond vehicles—it’s about environmental responsibility across the entire lifecycle,
“By working with BatX, we aim to reduce resource dependency, support national priorities, and set a new benchmark for responsible innovation in electric mobility,” he added.
Meanwhile, Utkarsh Singh, Chief Executive Officer of BatX Energies, said the firm’s partnership with VinFast reflects a shared belief in responsible innovation and resource circularity to strengthen the EV battery value chain.
“By enabling sustainable end-of-life solutions for EV batteries, we are building infrastructure that can grow with the industry and create lasting environmental impact,” he added.
As part of its goal to build a strong EV (electric vehicle) ecosystem in India, VinFast is expanding its network of key partnerships.
The company recently teamed up with Global Assure for roadside assistance, and with myTVS and RoadGrid to offer after-sales service and charging support, showing its focus on giving customers a smooth and reliable ownership experience.
VinFast also shared that it’s getting ready to launch its first two electric SUVs in India: the VF 6 and VF 7.
To support these launches, the company is quickly setting up operations at its Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu. It’s also investing in dealerships, service centers, and charging stations across the country.
VinFast is part of Vingroup JSC, one of Vietnam’s largest business groups. It is fully focused on electric vehicles, offering a wide range of electric SUVs, scooters, and buses.
VinFast said the firm is currently embarking on its next growth phase through rapid expansion of its distribution and dealership network globally and increasing its manufacturing capacities with a focus on key markets across North America, Europe, and Asia.
