Georgia-Based Spelman College  Strategic Partnership with HERide

HERide, a rideshare service dedicated to safe and reliable transportation, is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Spelman College to provide vital education, resources, and mentorship during.

The Red Zone, the critical period from the start of the fall semester to Thanksgiving break when sexual assaults on U.S. college campuses are highest.

HBCU grads Jillian Anderson and DeVynne Starks, founders of HERide, are committed to making roads safer for women.

College students, especially freshmen women, are vulnerable in the Red Zone. In response, HERide and Spelman College will offer comprehensive safety and prevention education to empower students. This effort shows HERide’s commitment to safer transportation and community well-being.

During September Campus Safety Month, HERide will work with Spelman College on The Red Zone program.

This collaboration will include campus safety and security activities and training. The cooperation intends to provide students with strong campus support by combining the experience and resources of both organizations.

“Spelman College is committed to creating a safe environment for our community, which is why we have historically designed Red Zone awareness and prevention initiatives to help eliminate sexual violence,” said Dr. Jaray Mazique, Spelman’s director of Title IX and Compliance. “We are excited to partner with HERide to enhance our efforts through safer ride share options and community events.”

HERide also promotes financial independence for students. HERide will teach students how to drive rideshares, giving them flexible pay options that fit their academic schedules. Students can meet their financial goals while making their peers’ mobility safer by driving for HERide.

“We are thrilled to partner with Spelman College to address the critical issues of sexual assault and campus safety,” said Jillian Anderson, co-founder of HERide. “As HBCU graduates, DeVynne and I understand the unique challenges faced by college students, and we are dedicated to making a positive impact in their lives.”
