Cookd Raises INR 16 Crore in Pre-Series A Round Led by Spring Marketing Capital

Consumer food brand Cookd has raised INR 16 crore (about $2 million) in new funding.

The funding round was led by Spring Marketing Capital, with other investors including Eternal Capital, Sun Icon Ventures, and PeerCheque.

The Chennai-based startup Cookd will use the new funds to grow its business in Tamil Nadu and expand into Kerala.

It also plans to develop more products, including masalas, gravies, and ready-to-use cooking kits.

Cookd, founded in 2019, offers a variety of cooking products like biryani kits, masalas, pastes, and recipe kits. All their products are preservative-free and made to offer great taste, convenience, and control while cooking.

You can find Cookd products on their website (D2C), in retail stores, and on quick delivery apps like Swiggy Instamart, Blinkit, and Zepto.

Cookd already has a strong presence in Tamil Nadu and is now expanding to more parts of South India. The brand’s products are sold in over 1,600 retail stores, and it is the top seller of biryani kits on quick delivery platforms.

Cookd’s growth is powered by its popular content. It has over 6 million followers and gets more than 150 million video views every month across social media.

What makes Cookd stand out is how it combines new product ideas with content made by chefs and influencers. This helps them get quick feedback from customers and build trust in the brand.

Spring Marketing Capital, which led this funding round, has also invested in brands like Purplle, Jar, and Giva in the past.
