Emergent AI Secures $23M Series A Funding Led by Lightspeed

Emergent AI, a platform for “vibe coding,” has raised $23 million in a Series A funding round led by Lightspeed.

Other investors include Together Fund, Y Combinator, Prosus Ventures, and angel investors like Jeff Dean, Devendra Chaplot, and Balaji Srinivasan.

The startup plans to use the money to hire more people, improve its AI coding tools, and expand its platform globally.

“Our mission is to democratise software development for the masses. We want to bring the next billion people into software creation, making sure that anyone with an idea and a phone can build what they envision,” Mukund Jha, cofounder and CEO of Emergent AI.

Mukund said the startup is expanding its agentic network while focusing on reinforcement learning (RL) as its next big investment. RL helps software learn through trial and error, improving decisions by maximizing long-term rewards.

“Emergent collapses the complexity of software into a single button anyone can press to ship, scale, earn and Lightspeed is proud to back them on this exciting journey,” explained Hemant Mohapatra, Partner at Lightspeed.

Founded in 2025 by brothers Mukund and Madhav Jha, Emergent has offices in San Francisco and Bengaluru.

The platform lets users create ready-to-use software just by typing natural language prompts. Behind the scenes, AI agents handle everything—frontend, backend, testing, deployment, and integration.

Launched only three months ago, the app builder has already reached $15 million in annual recurring revenue. Over one million users have created more than two million apps on the platform.
