India based Frey Rides Secures $250K to expand its operations by hiring more female drivers

Indian Fery Rides, India’s first transport platform founded by women and made for women, has raised INR 2.075 crore (around $250,000) in a seed funding round led by the IAN Angel Fund of the IAN Group.

Other investors, including Harry Palasopramanian, Oday Chatterjee, and Sri Prakash, also took part in the round.

The company plans to use the funds to expand beyond Delhi-NCR, enhance its technology platform, and increase the number of women drivers, known as “Sister Partners”, on its platform.

Fery Rides aims to tackle one of India’s biggest social issues — the lack of safe and dependable transport for women. The idea was born when co-founder Ajay Kumar saw a friend face harassment from a taxi driver. This experience inspired him to create a transport service that focuses on women’s safety and dignity.

The platform empowers women as both passengers and drivers. All rides are operated by trained and verified women drivers, and the service is exclusively for women, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive travel environment. Fery Rides also uses modern technology, including real-time ride tracking, SOS emergency alerts, and WhatsApp-based customer support. Moreover, all vehicles are fully electric, helping the company promote both sustainability and women’s empowerment.

Ajay Kumar, co-founder and CEO, said: “This funding is not just capital, it is an affirmation of our mission to redefine urban transport for women in India. We aspire to transform Fery into a national movement for safe and sustainable transport.
