Nbryo raises AUD $10 million Seed round to breed better beef

Queensland-based agtech startup Nbryo has raised AUD $10 million to grow its livestock genetics platform, which focuses on improving bovine IVF technology for cattle producers around the world.

The funding round was co-led by Tenacious Ventures and AgriZeroNZ (backed by the New Zealand government). Other investors included the Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), the Murdoch family, and Mandalay Venture Partners.

This round also converted $12.3 million in earlier SAFE notes, bringing Nbryo’s total funding to over $22 million since 2024.

In addition, Nbryo and its research partners received $18 million in R&D grants from the Gates Foundation, Meat and Livestock Australia, and other state and federal programs.

The new funding will help Nbryo develop its proprietary IVF platform, expand its IVF and Embryo Transfer (ET) services, and launch new embryo multiplication technology and a transfer device planned for October 2026.

Nbryo’s in vitro embryo production (IVP) technology makes advanced cattle breeding methods more accessible and affordable for beef and dairy farmers worldwide.

CEO Paul Niven said the investment will help Nbryo scale its platform, making elite cattle genetics available to farmers everywhere.

“By democratising access to high-quality embryos, we believe we can transform cattle breeding efficiency and sustainability worldwide, with a number of trials already underway across Australia, New Zealand and Europe,” he said.

“With the support of our investors and the Queensland government, we have a real opportunity to build a global high-tech business here in Queensland that changes the face of beef and dairy industries everywhere.

Queensland primary industries minister Tony Perrett said Nbyro was a locally-grown solution to a global agricultural problem.

“Nbryo brings the best of Queensland agriculture and innovation together to solve one of the cattle industry’s biggest bottlenecks – affordable access to superior genetics,” he said

“Their technology is resetting the economics of cattle breeding, levelling the playing field for farmers everywhere and delivering step-change improvements in productivity and sustainability.”
