Databricks Appoints Simon Davies as Head of APJ region

Databricks has appointed Simon Davies as Senior Vice President and General Manager for the Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) region.

The APJ region is growing very fast for Databricks, with more than 85% growth in its latest quarter. The company now has over 1,500 employees in the region and plans to open a new, larger headquarters in Singapore later this year, which will be four times bigger than its current office.

Many organizations in APJ are quickly adopting AI, and Databricks is gaining new customers in industries like finance, telecom, and the public sector. New clients include Singapore Customs, Samsung Life Insurance, and SingTel.

They join other major companies already using Databricks in the region, such as Atlassian, LG Electronics, National Australia Bank, and Toyota.

“Simon brings not only deep regional and industry expertise but also an exceptional track record of building high-performing teams,” said Ron Gabrisko, Chief Revenue Officer at Databricks. “His leadership will be instrumental in unlocking the next phase of growth for one of our fastest-growing regions, helping APJ organizations harness the full potential of data and AI to drive powerful business transformation.”

“I’m excited to be joining Databricks at such a defining moment for APJ. This is one of the most digitally advanced and AI-ready regions in the world, where organizations are moving quickly from experimentation to scaled impact,” said Simon Davies, SVP & General Manager for APJ at Databricks. “What sets Databricks apart is its ability to combine rapid innovation with strong execution, helping customers unify their data and turn AI, apps and agents into tangible business outcomes. The opportunity ahead is significant, and I look forward to working with our teams, customers, and partners to accelerate that momentum and deliver meaningful impact across the region.”

Databricks is a company that helps businesses use data and artificial intelligence (AI) to build apps, analyze information, and create smart tools.

More than 20,000 organizations around the world use Databricks, including companies like adidas, AT&T, Bayer, Block Inc., Mastercard, Rivian, and Unilever. In fact, over 60% of Fortune 500 companies rely on it.

The company is based in San Francisco and has more than 30 offices worldwide. It offers a single platform that brings together different tools like Agent Bricks, Genie, Lakebase, Lakeflow, Lakehouse, and Unity Catalog, making it easier for businesses to manage data and use AI in one place.
