Pype AI, a health tech startup that uses artificial intelligence, has raised $1.2 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Kalaari Capital. Investors Wyser Capital and Tenity also joined the round.

With this new funding, Pype plans to improve its AI-powered communication platform and expand more quickly into the US market. The company currently operates in India and works with around 15 hospitals.

“Our platform is like an AI front desk for hospitals and clinics, serving as a communication layer,” Dhruv Mehra, Co-founder and CEO of Pype AI said. “Pype AI began by fine-tuning its models specifically for the Indian English accent to ensure accurate and natural communication with patients. The company has since expanded its language support to include Hindi and Kannada, leveraging partnerships with Sarvam and Krutrim to enhance regional language capabilities,” he added.

Jayraj Bharat Patel, AVP at Kalaari Capital, said in a statement, “Globally, healthcare has long suffered from deep operational inefficiencies. Pype AI is solving this with domain-specific agents designed to handle communication reliably and at scale.”

Pype AI was founded in 2024 by Dhruv Mehra, a former Meta professional, and Ashish Tripathy, a former LinkedIn engineer. The company is based in Bengaluru.

Pype AI builds voice agents trained specifically for healthcare. These AI agents help patients with important tasks like booking appointments, sending follow-up reminders, giving treatment preparation instructions, and providing 24/7 support.

Hospitals can install Pype AI’s system in just a few days. This helps reduce waiting times and lowers the workload for doctors and staff.

The AI agents use detailed medical conversation data to give accurate guidance and respond in a natural, human-like way.
