China Introduces Online Visa Applications for Indian Travelers

China has launched an online visa application system in India to simplify and expedite the visa process for Indian travelers. The system came into effect on December 20, 2025.

Under the new process, applicants can fill out visa forms and upload required documents online via the official website, reducing the time spent during the initial stages of visa processing.

The Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in New Delhi will continue to assist applicants alongside the online platform. The centre, located at Shivaji Stadium Metro Station in Connaught Place, operates Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm.

Applicants are required to create or log in to their accounts on the official website, complete the application form, and upload supporting documents. Physical submission of passports and documents at the centre is only allowed after the application status shows “online review completed” and a confirmation email is received.

The launch of the online system is aimed at promoting people-to-people exchanges and easing travel between India and China.

India resumed issuing tourist visas to Chinese nationals worldwide in November 2025, while business visas were already being issued. These measures are part of people-centric confidence-building initiatives agreed by both countries in 2025, which also included the resumption of direct commercial flights and the revival of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
