Governata raises $4 million in seed round

Governata is a Saudi startup that helps companies manage and protect their data. It has raised $4 million in seed funding.

The money will be used to expand its AI-ready data platform across Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The funding round included Joa Capital, abtal.vc, Sanabil Accelerator by 500 Global, Sadu Capital, and Plus VC.

It also saw participation from Hyperscope Ventures, A-Typical Ventures, and Plug and Play.

Governata was founded in 2025 by Khalid Almudayfir, Jehad Senan, and Djamel Mohand.

It offers a data management platform that helps government and private organisations build reliable, secure, and compliant data systems that are ready for AI use.

Its AI-powered software improves data quality and organisation, making it easier and safer for companies to use artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI.

The new funding will be used to improve Governata’s product, strengthen its AI-based decision tools, and support its expansion across the region.

In the next stage, the company plans to add advanced machine learning and generative AI features to help businesses make faster and more accurate decisions, while keeping their data secure and locally stored.
