Commit is an Israeli technology company that offers software solutions to high-tech companies and large enterprises. It has acquired Savannah, a startup that focuses on hiring and managing experienced software developers from Africa.
The deal was made entirely in cash. While the exact amount was not shared, it is believed to be worth several million dollars.
Savannah was founded in 2022 by its CEO, Itai Azogui. The company created a network of more than 100 skilled developers from Africa, who now work with well-known global tech companies such as Firefly, Aqua Security, Port, and Bright Data.
Savannah grew without taking any outside funding and was fully self-funded. After the acquisition, it will operate as part of Commit’s Offshore division, which is led by Evgeny Golubov.
All employees of Savannah, including founder Itai Azogui, will join Commit and continue to run the company’s operations. They will focus on supporting existing clients and expanding services for new customers.
Azogui first learned about Africa’s tech talent while working in Accra, Ghana. During that time, he saw a strong opportunity to connect skilled local developers with startups and tech companies around the world.
“Africa is one of the highest-quality yet underleveraged talent markets in the world. An ecosystem that is rapidly emerging and filled with top-tier engineers,” said Arik Feingold, chairman and president of Commit. “This partnership allows us to be among the first to create real access to this market, which no major software services company has yet managed to penetrate.”
Savannah has created a clear and simple process to help startups quickly find skilled technology professionals and solve R&D capacity challenges. The company also runs a developer community that offers training in AI and other advanced technologies.
Golubov said that tech hubs in African countries like Ghana and Nigeria today are similar to Ukraine about ten years ago. He described the talent there as young, highly focused on technology, and fluent in English.
Azogui said the acquisition will allow Savannah to scale its model globally. “African developers are the next generation of the global high-tech workforce,” he said. “Partnering with Commit will allow us to leverage the methodology we have developed and offer more global companies the value of African talent, especially as development with AI tools becomes central.”
