Nalwa Aero Teams Up with 3 Helicopter Operators for Low-Cost Electric Air Taxis

Aviation technology company Nalwa Aero announced on Thursday that it has signed an initial agreement with helicopter operators Global Vectra Helicorp, Pawan Hans Ltd, and Himalayan Heli Services to start electric air taxi (eVTOL) services.

The service will offer fares starting at Rs 200 per passenger on certain routes.

Nalwa Aero said the eVTOL aircraft will be used for pilgrimage travel like the Char Dham Yatra, air ambulance services, urban and intercity air taxis, and offshore crew and logistics transport.

The company said electric propulsion will help cut operating costs, reduce noise, and eliminate in-flight emissions. This will allow operators to serve routes that were not viable with conventional helicopters. The quieter operations are particularly useful for religious sites and cities, while better efficiency will enable more frequent short-distance flights.

“In collaboration with experienced operators like Pawan Hans, Global Vectra and Himalaya Heli Services, we aim to introduce air taxi services at fares starting from not more than Rs 200 per passenger on select short routes,” he said.

Nalwa Aero said it received Design Organisation Approval from Indian aviation authorities last year, and its Type Certification application has now been accepted.

The company is currently building small-scale prototypes of its electric aircraft and plans to be fully operational by 2028.

It said that launching these electric aircraft will make air travel more accessible, efficient, and environmentally friendly in important areas of aviation.
