Cisco announced on Monday that it has completed its acquisition of Astrix Security. Reports say the final deal value is around $400 million.
Astrix’s technology will be added to Cisco’s main security platform. This includes tools like Cisco Identity Intelligence and Zero Trust solutions such as Duo and Secure Access.
With this integration, Cisco will better understand how users and systems behave, not just who they are. This data will also be shared with tools like Splunk to help detect threats faster and respond more quickly.
Founded in 2021 by Alon Jackson and Idan Gour, The founders of Astrix Security are former members of Israel’s elite Unit 8200. The company focuses on a major gap in today’s cybersecurity.
Its platform helps businesses track “non-human identities,” such as software programs, automated systems, and AI tools. It can spot risky or harmful access early and fix it before it causes a security breach.
Astrix Security’s platform helps companies safely connect both external (third-party) and internal applications. It also keeps track of what permissions are given to non-human users like software and automated systems.
The main goal is to stop cyberattacks and data leaks, especially those caused by systems that have too many permissions or have been hacked.
Bailey explained that Astrix Security focuses on protecting “non-human identities” like API keys, service accounts, and OAuth tokens. These are the same tools AI systems use to access data and perform tasks.
With this acquisition, Cisco will be able to track how these systems work across organizations, manage their access from start to finish, and spot security threats in real time—such as misuse of too many permissions.
