Chennai-based airport technology startup Blunav has raised US$1 million in a seed funding round led by Piper Serica.
The company plans to use the funding to grow its team, improve its products, and expand its services in India and global markets.
Founded by Suseendar Marimuthu and Cherukuru Sridharan, Blunav is developing a cloud-based Airport Operating System that brings airport operations, passenger services, and business systems together on one platform.
The startup wants to help airports run more efficiently, improve daily operations, and create a better experience for passengers.
Blunav is mainly focused on smaller and mid-sized airports, where many processes are still done manually or through separate software systems that do not work well together. Even larger airports often struggle with disconnected data across different terminals and departments.
To solve this problem, Blunav’s platform creates a single connected system that gives airport teams real-time access to important operational data.
The company’s first deployment is already active at Chennai International Airport through the Startup India initiative of the Airports Authority of India. According to Blunav, its Airside Management software reduced runway occupancy time by 22% during a 20-day study involving more than 3,500 flights.
Blunav believes connected systems and real-time data will become increasingly important as global air travel continues to grow. The startup competes with aviation technology companies like SITA and Amadeus, which also provide airport management solutions.
As airports continue adopting automation and digital technologies, Blunav aims to support the modernization of airport infrastructure, especially in emerging markets.
