In Collaborate with Google, the King Abdullah University KAUST of Science and Technology has begun its investment project to assist artificial intelligence research in the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency said on Monday.
The project involves awarding research grants totaling $100,000 to AI researchers from the University’s Computer, Electrical and Mathematical Science and Engineering Department.

In order to encourage research in the field of machine learning, particularly in the use of generative and large language models (LLMs), the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and Google launched an investment project to support AI research in the Kingdom.
The introduction of KAUST’s new Centre of Excellence in Generative AI, which develops novel general-purpose generative AI models to accelerate excellence in generative AI research and development in the Kingdom, coincides with the inauguration of these grants.

Notable is the fact that KAUST is ranked 17th in the world by the Computer Science Rankings (CSRankings), which evaluates the contributions made by computer departments to the most esteemed scientific journals in the domains of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and optical computing between 2014 and 2024.
