[Funding Alert] Thailand-Based Betagro secures $30 Million in Funding

In an effort to promote innovation within its business ecosystem, integrated food company Betagro Public Company Limited, based in Thailand, has established Betagro Ventures, its corporate venture capital division.

With investments coming from a $30 million fund, Betagro Ventures will support startups in their early stages and venture establish new companies in the foodtech and agritech industries.

The fund will concentrate on three primary strategies expanding the availability of nutritious and safe food; discovering new sustainable protein sources; and establishing sustainable agro-industrial food supply networks.

In order to assist businesses in gaining access to end users, subject knowledge, and potential strategic relationship prospects, Betagro Ventures will leverage the larger BTG ecosystem.

Furthermore, Betagro Ventures will concentrate on developing and growing internal business initiatives by fusing entrepreneurial skill with BTG’s understanding of the agrifood sector.

Chayadhorn Taepaisitphongse, managing director of Betagro Ventures and chief strategy and innovation officer of BTG, pointed out that the established business models are under threat from fast changing customer behaviour and technological disruptors.

“Yet, opportunities exist to embrace innovation by collaborating with startups to develop and scale new technologies,” he added.

BTG serves local markets and exports to more than 20 countries in a variety of industries, such as processed goods, livestock, animal feed, and meat manufacturing. The business also sells farm equipment, works in the pet food sector, and makes investments in Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos.

The company made its debut on the Thai IPO market in 2022, $532 million, making it the second-largest IPO in the nation that year.
