Blinq Mobility is a new electric vehicle startup. It has raised INR 4.3 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by venture capital firm 8i Ventures.
The round also included investments from IIMA Ventures, AIC Banasthali Vidyapith, and several angel investors.
The company will use this money to build battery-swapping electric cars that are specially made for city travel and urban use.
Blinq Mobility was started by experienced engineers from the automobile and EV industry. One of the founders is Nikesh Bisht, an IIT Delhi graduate and former CTO of Vecmocon Technologies.
The company is building electric vehicles that are specially designed for regular and heavy use in city transport.
Nikesh Bisht, Founder and CEO of Blinq Mobility, said that city-focused EVs must be built from the beginning to handle high usage and be very reliable.
He added that the new funding will help the company improve its engineering work and test its vehicles in real-world conditions as it prepares to grow.
Blinq treats the battery and the vehicle as two separate parts. The battery works like a portable power pack, while the vehicle simply uses that power. This allows vehicles to keep running without waiting long for charging.
