Nov 7, 2026 | By Carmela Catilo

Toronto-based artificial intelligence (AI) company Cohere is partnering with Singapore’s Centre for Strategic Infocomm Technologies (CSIT), an agency under the Ministry of Defence, to support the use of AI in national security operations.
The partnership, announced on November 5, 2026, will focus on deploying AI technologies in highly secure environments. It aims to help CSIT use advanced AI tools while maintaining strong security and governance standards.
Cohere to Provide AI Models and North Platform
Under the partnership, CSIT will use Cohere’s AI models and North, the company’s agentic AI platform. The organizations will work together to develop and evaluate AI applications for secure government operations.
The applications will focus on several areas, including secure knowledge retrieval, automated analysis, report generation, and agentic AI workflows.
These tools are expected to help improve how information is accessed, analysed, and used in sensitive operational environments.
Focus on Security and Existing Systems
The collaboration will place strong emphasis on data security, governance, and reliable AI deployment. Both organizations will work to ensure that AI applications can operate within highly secure environments.
According to the announcement, the partnership follows an earlier pilot project. The pilot demonstrated that Cohere's AI technology could be deployed and operated in secure on-premises environments.
It also showed that the company's technology could integrate with existing systems and workflows.
