DayOne Partners with Sembcorp to Explore Data Center Energy Solutions Across Asia
Oct 29, 2026 | By Carmela Catilo

DayOne Data Centers has partnered with Sembcorp Utilities to explore energy solutions for its data center projects across Asia. Announced on October 29, 2026, the agreement aims to support the growing power needs of data centers as demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and digital infrastructure increases.
DayOne and Sembcorp Sign Energy Partnership
DayOne, a Singapore-headquartered data center developer and operator, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Sembcorp Utilities, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries.
Under the agreement, Sembcorp will act as a technical partner for selected DayOne data center projects. The companies will evaluate energy solutions based on the power requirements of each development.
The collaboration will focus on several areas, including on-site power infrastructure, power generation, fuel supply, renewable energy generation, and operations and maintenance services.
Supporting Growing AI Data Center Power Needs
The partnership comes as the expansion of AI increases the demand for reliable and scalable power supplies for data centers. Both companies aim to explore ways to coordinate energy planning with data center development from the early stages of projects.
Koh Chiap Khiong, President and CEO of Gas and Related Services at Sembcorp, said the collaboration would help the companies explore energy solutions suited to DayOne’s developments and support the expansion of digital infrastructure across Asia.
Jamie Khoo, CEO of DayOne, said that future data center growth would require digital infrastructure and energy solutions to be planned together. He highlighted the importance of securing land, power, energy, and other critical resources early in the development process.
DayOne’s Renewable Energy Goals
DayOne aims to use 100% renewable energy by 2030, where market conditions allow. The company already has renewable energy arrangements in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
These arrangements include a power purchase agreement with Sembcorp for DayOne’s upcoming SG1 data center in Singapore. The new MOU provides an opportunity for both companies to explore additional energy solutions for DayOne’s regional expansion.
Sembcorp Expands Data Center Energy Partnerships
Sembcorp is expanding its work with data center operators as demand for reliable and lower-carbon energy increases. The company has also signed an MOU with Nxera Singapore to explore renewable and low-carbon energy solutions for data centers in Singapore.
In addition, Sembcorp was recently appointed as an approved aggregator under the Singapore Economic Development Board’s biomethane sandbox, supporting the development of its low-carbon energy offerings for data center customers.
