Flick TV Raises $2.3 Million in Seed Funding Led by Stellaris Ventures

Flick TV, a streaming platform for short dramas, has raised $2.3 million (Rs 19.7 crore) in seed funding. Stellaris Venture Partners led the round.

The round also saw participation from Gemba Capital and Titan Capital.

The startup will use the money to make streaming better on smartphones to hire more people and get more users.

“Microdrama combines ‘snackable time’, where attention spans are reduced, with the power of storytelling. Human beings have always had the urge to know more, and we see this will become a $5 billion market in India over the next five years,” said co-founder Singhal.

“India’s next entertainment wave will be mobile-native, emotionally engaging, and built for short attention spans. The Flick TV team brings together expertise in content creation and testing, along with a deep understanding of user acquisition and engagement—making them frontrunners to innovate and lead this emerging category,” said Mayank Jain, principal at Stellaris Venture Partners.

Flick TV was launched in April this year by former ShareChat leaders Singhal and Sanidhya Mittal, along with Pratik Anand, who used to be a senior director at Pocket FM.

The platform offers short drama episodes that are vertical and under five minutes long, made especially for people who watch on their phones.

Singhal helped build ShareChat’s short video creator community and worked on growing creators and making money at EloElo.

Anand used to lead new user growth at Meesho and managed content at the audio platform Pocket FM.

The startup plans to launch over 100 original shows in different genres like romance, thrillers, and everyday life stories. It also aims to create content in four new regional languages.

The startup is also using generative AI tools to help with writing scripts, planning scenes, and creating visual ideas for its shows.
