San Francisco-based observability company groundcover has acquired Wand, a Kubernetes resource optimization platform. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
This is groundcover’s first acquisition. As part of the deal, Wand’s founding team and employees will join groundcover.
The acquisition combines groundcover’s production monitoring technology with Wand’s Kubernetes resource optimization capabilities. The company aims to help software systems understand production environments and safely make infrastructure decisions.
groundcover provides observability for applications and cloud infrastructure using eBPF and OpenTelemetry. Its platform runs inside the customer’s own cloud environment through its Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) architecture.

The platform collects detailed production data that helps engineers and AI agents investigate issues, understand system changes and identify what happened in production.
Wand adds automation for Kubernetes infrastructure. Its technology continuously studies workload behavior and makes decisions about CPU, memory, workload scaling and cluster resources.
Kubernetes requires engineers to set CPU and memory resources for workloads before they run under real-world traffic. If resources are set too high, companies may waste cloud capacity. If they are set too low, applications can face performance issues or outages.
Wand is designed to manage these resource decisions automatically. Its technology coordinates vertical scaling, horizontal scaling and cluster-level scaling instead of handling each process separately.
The company says its platform can adjust CPU and memory allocation on live Kubernetes infrastructure as demand changes. Wand can be installed through a Helm chart and is designed to reduce the need for teams to maintain manual resource thresholds and tuning rules.
According to Shon Lev-Ran, CEO and co-founder of Wand, infrastructure changes continuously, making fixed resource recommendations difficult to maintain over time.
Following the acquisition, groundcover plans to use Wand’s technology in two main areas.
First, groundcover will use Wand to improve the efficiency and resilience of its own BYOC data plane. Since the platform operates inside customers’ cloud environments, reducing its resource usage can also help lower customers’ cloud costs.
Second, groundcover plans to offer Wand’s Kubernetes resource optimization capabilities to its customers. This will expand groundcover’s platform from monitoring infrastructure to helping operate it.
Shahar Azulay, CEO and co-founder of groundcover, said the company wants to combine production context with the ability to safely act on that information.
Founded in 2021, groundcover provides full-stack observability for applications, infrastructure and AI workloads. The company is backed by investors including One Peak, Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital, Zeev Ventures, Angular Ventures, Heavybit and Jibe.
